HABERAE HOMES

In 2007, four teeny tiny 100 year old brick structures captivated our hearts and caused us to start thinking about micro homes for our sustainable future.  The brick homes started life as overnight sleeping quarters for the brakemen and engineers on the old V&T railroad.  The structures had been neglected over the years and needed some HabeRae "magic".

The homes, which average only 275 square feet each, were gutted of the many layers of linoleum, carpet, ugly cabinets and outdated plumbing fixtures.  One hundred year old douglas fir flooring was refinished, brick walls were exposed, a sleeping loft installed and all new kitchens and bath were installed.  New insulation, double pane windows, an urban garden space for residents to grow their own veggies and environmentally friendly landscaping top off the list of SoDo 4 sustainable practices. 

We installed stack washer & dryers, a sleeping loft and other space saving features so that each home feels much larger than its relatively tight envelope.
